GLEAN is a two-channel video started on Agnès Varda’s birthday. It portrays two friends going about creating art, gardening, eating, swimming, and laughing. Actors include a piece of turf long-maintained in Valérie’s garden in honor of Dürer; 17th-century naturalist artist Maria Sybilla; Van Gogh; toads; and cicadas. GLEAN is a meditation on Nature, generations, transmission, cultivation, and Origins.
